Curriculum

Aims of the School

To empower our children to achieve their potential and develop the skills necessary to make informed and responsible decisions throughout their lives.

To develop self-esteem and self-confidence and encourage each individual to recognise and extend their personal capabilities.

Access to the Curriculum

The curriculum is seen as being a common curriculum for all the pupils of Crumlin Primary School and no pupil will be debarred from any part of it on the grounds of gender.

The school will consider the needs of both learners who experience difficulty and gifted children when allocating resources.

The school accepts its responsibility to attempt to develop the full potential of pupils who may have suffered educational disruption by frequent transfer between schools.

Every effort will be made to provide maximum access to the curriculum for children who are physically disabled. Access to the building has been improved through modification to the main entrance, lifts on staircases and refurbishment of two toilets with full disable facilities.

Special Educational Needs

Children who require specialist individual attention because of learning difficulties may be taught either individually or in small groups for some periods each week. Parents will receive copies of individual education plans for their child and will be asked to support and review such plans.

A copy of the school's Special Educational Needs policy may be inspected by contacting the Principal.

Curriculum Delivery

The areas of study in the curriculum are
as follows :-

Religious Education

Mathematics
The World Around Us (Science, Geography and History)

Creative and Expressive (Art, Music and Physical Education)

The Educational themes of Education for Mutual Understanding, Personal and Social Education, Cultural Heritage, Information Technology and Health Education will be developed through the above areas of study.

The school Curriculum will be seen as being in need of constant development and the teachers and Principal will regularly examine and improve its provision as resources become available.
